Plain Label Podcast: Pod Shots - Sunshine
In the first episode of Pod Shots, Eric is joined by Sean Stangland as we discuss the 2007 film Sunshine! We begin the episode discussing the overall quality of the film, and in particular that of the script by Alex Garland. We move on to discuss the cast, including several “that guy” actors and one super-hero, who traded in a trip to the sun for a flag costume and a shield. The plot is further discussed before getting into spoiler territory.
In our spoiler section we discuss the 3rd act of the film. Sean compares and contrasts the film to Prometheus, and the hosts talk a bit about a potentially unsatisfying ending with the film’s villain. They then compare the film to the science fiction/horror film Event Horizon. Sean then explains the ending and what it means to him, and again how that compares to Prometheus. It’s a fun and entertaining discussion on one of the more overlooked films in recent memory!
